My Recent Experience with Sexism and Life Insurance
Is there sexism in purchasing life insurance? About 3 weeks ago, my husband and I recently evaluated our life insurance provider and decided to switch.

We applied to two top providers. I applied first. Applications are still pending.
When I applied they asked for additional information, income wise. So of course I provided whatever you was needed.
When my husband applied, for the same exact policy and amount, he was instantly approved.
But after he applied, we were prompted (both times) to get some coverage for his spouse (aka me).
The next section wasn’t about how much money I made it was what chores I was responsible for doing: children care, laundry, cooking, etc. It wanted you to chose because if I were to pass of course the chores must be outsourced and covered.
When I completed my two applications, neither one prompted me to get insurance for my spouse nor did it even ask what chores he did.
Three weeks later and still no word from either provider. I guess they just can’t believe that a mom of 4 would request such a high insurance amount. And that she definitely could not earn as much as I do.
